July 2003 - More Strolling Around San Francisco

This is on the balcony of the Maritime Museum. I had always thought of those cross beams on the masts of the tall ships as slender poles. Until I saw this, I had never grasped that they would have to be the diameter of good-sized logs. The next image shows where these pieces were located on the ship.
