City Lights bookstore. To the right is Columbus and on the left is Kerouac Alley. Lawrence Ferlinghetti was one of the co-founders of City Lights. One of the bookstore's claims to fame is that it published Alan Ginsburg's "Howl," composed while Ginsburg lived a few blocks away at 1010 Montgomery St.
; sFerlinghetti is responsible for suggesting San Francisco rename 12 street to honor 10 writers, Isadora Duncan, and Beniamo Bufano, a sculptor. Jack Kerouac Alley is one result.
