Caldwell is just two miles (uphill and into the
wind) from the Oklahoma border. First it was a cowtown on the Chisolm
Trail to Abilene, and when the railroad reached here, it was a
terminus. So, there are signs up and down the main street
describing the usual end of the trail gunfights and murders.
There were volunteers out in the sun to answer questions. Very nice.
