Everywhere in Kansas there are oil and gas wells. I saw one well in the floodplain of a river, less than 20 yards from the channel itself. And the smell of hydrocarbons is common as you ride through the fields. So it wasn't a surprise to see a train consisting solely of tank cars go past.
