There are two interesting buildings in this picture: the Sentinel Building on the right and the Transamerica Pyramid on the left.
The Sentinel Building is owned by Francis Ford Coppola and houses his film company. A brass plaque on the building lists some of the films that were edited here.
; sThe Transamerica Pyramid is San Francisco's tallest building. The Pyramd is to me a pointed example of the architectural maxim that form follows folly. In conception, it's similar to Sevilla deciding the cathedral needed a bell tower big enough to ride up on a horse. Of course, the town of Sevilla is typically pleasantly tipsy.
; sWhat's really interesting about the Pyramid is the building that occupied the site until 1959. At various times, the building and its ground floor saloon hosted such notables as Bret Harte, Mark Twain, Robert Lewis Stevenson, Ambrose Bierce, Frank Norris, and Jack London. Sun Yat-sen drafted the Proclamation of the Republic of China, in one of the offices.
