There are coffee shops everywhere -- three
on one block near our hotel. The only variety of black
coffee served in most places is americano. Americanos are
bad to start with, but Korean americanos set new records for
awfulness. "Select your Americano" is like saying "Would
you like your hot water plain or with an unidentifiable taste?"
In a coffee shop an americano costs between $3-$4. And
that's just the monetary cost. The psychic cost is
greater.
Still the coffee shops are nicely appointed and most are large.
