Gas masks and emergency gear in a subway
station. Many (all?) of the stations are marked as
shelters and have cabinets like this in them.
In the whirl of Seoul's fancy stores, traffic, museums, etc.,
forgetting that a belligerent, crazy, nuclear power is less than
40 miles away is easy. In fact, except for little things
like this, Seoul seems utterly oblivious to the nearby
threat. (As I write this military leaders are meeting to
discuss recent exchanges of gunfire between soldiers at the DMZ
and navies near the disputed sea border.)
Maybe I missed something but there didn't seem to be enough gas
masks in any of these cabinets for even a tiny fraction of the
people in a station at any time.
