The Delaware River.

For the same mysterious reason that the Connecticut River separates New Hampshire from Vermont, the Delaware River separates New Jersey from Pennsylvania.

About the only thing I knew about the Delaware before this trip was that Washington crossed it during the Revolutionary War with a painter on hand. That happened about four or five miles south of this bridge in Lambertville.

We'll ride alongside the Delaware all the way to New York.
