I wouldn't say our hotel is in a good neighborhood, but it's not very far from the center of Sofia, and most of the blocks we saw near the center looked somewhat run down. Even the nicest blocks seemed to have a seedy building or two. (The hotel was not run down at all. Big, nice room with very nice public spaces.) There were places farther out that looked better.
