The big intersection in downtown Sofia is presided over by St. Sofia. The statue of St. Sofia replaced a statue of Lenin which is now in the Museum of Socialist Art.

Like everything in Bulgaria, the St. Sofia statue was controversial. People aren't particularly religious; the city does not get its name from St. Sofia; and the St. Sofia statue, immodestly, shows the saint's nipples.
