The day we arrived in Kas was the first day after the Ankara bombing. Turkey had declared several days of national mourning (as well as limits on what the media could report.) We expected lots of things to be closed, and that there would be public and private displays of sorrow. But, the only thing we noticed was that flags were at half-mast. Everything and everyone seemed to be normal and unaffected.

In Kas, this and perhaps a two dozen young people sitting around the base of the statue later in the day were the only indications that anything unusual had happened. The signs were gone the next day.
