We didn't expect to do the Istanbul Biennial, but when we got to Istanbul, it was really chance and cheapness that did it. I noticed lots of people headed into a free exhibit, and since free is good, we followed them in.
The Biennial turned out to be a great thing to do. There are exhibits scattered all around Istanbul, some in unlikely locations -- parking garages, ruined buildings. Some in famous hotels or historic buildings. Some in Asia and some on the islands. It was a wonderful way to explore the city.
